ISLA

International Sound And Lights Arts

ISLA is the new space that Gabriel Gordon and I are building for our 2 communities - the local islanders on Strynø and our international artist community. When Gabriel and I met eachother in 2019, we immediately found out that we share the same dreams. ISLA is one of them, and now it is coming true.

Our vision is to create a unique cultural pearl in the UNESCO Global Geopark, the South Funen archipelago in Denmark. At ISLA, artists can create in beautiful, calm and inspiring surroundings. We are offering facilities for art and music residencies, seminars, smaller conferences, exhibitions and concerts as well as a world class recording studio and art studios. The space will be fluctuating from bustling with activity during residencies, small conferences and events, to completely tranquil during artist retreats and recording sessions.

We received a grant of DKK200,000 from the campaign Underværker and the Danish foundation Realdania in the Spring of 2023. The money facilitated a feasibility study which we are currently finishing up. We’ve been working with an extraordinary group of experts on creating partnerships, a business plan, architectural drawings and much more.

Soon we’ll enter the fundraising phase to restore our farm buildings and the new architecture that will house the visiting artists.

You are welcome to reach out if you are interested in partnering with us, wish to donate to the project or have any questions info@isladenmark.com

We plan to open the doors in the Spring of 2026!
